In “the hours” we have seen 3 women´s life in 3 different decades, from morning to night that they had gusts, celebrated happy birthday, hosted a party and had the guests

Virginia Woolf, 1920
She was a writer and wanted to write the first sentence from her book, Ms Dalloway. She wrote about herself and her inclinations like homosexual, commit suicide and so on in her book

Lora Brown, 1951
She read Virginia´s book. She wanted to commit suicide but at the end of movie we find, she gave up her family and that lifestyle.

Clarissa Vaughan, 2001
She was editor and she rereading, rewriting the books. She lived with her girlfriend. She wanted to host a party for her friend, Richard, that at the end of movie he killed himself and we found he was Laura´s son. Clarissa was so successful, open-minded and bolder than rest of women. She was aware toward her life although she dealt with and suffered from many problems

I do think, this movie shows the history of women´s life. They were successful and brave however we saw the influence of that suppression on Lisa´s son and others

The women were unaware of their sexual orientation in the past. Sometimes they happened in that situation. After that try to follow their desire and inclinations, to know and find themselves. They didn´t know to be homosexual or bisexual. In the next step they know themselves they reject it. They didn´t accept it. They felt guilty and shame. they were afraid of being rejected by the society. Therefore they were confused and depressed. They weren´t happy in that position as a wife or mother or writer and so on. They were suicide. If we saw their lives, they had a good position especially Laura but she was so restless

All of them tried to scape their issues, with buying flower, reading or writing book, hosting a party for their closed friends, celebrating happy birthday or visiting their family, hosting or having guests. All of them were courage because of their efforts and stepping into the heart of darkness

Time is the most important element because of during the time, women tried to discover themselves and they were happier than past

I think the main concept in this movie relates to all of people, except women, in the world. We face to commit suicide, unsolved childhood issues, unaware of ourselves. So we need to self-knowledge we need to know about the impact of childhood on our character formation to reach the sense of satisfaction
